Review of Grim's Ghastly Manor Venue

The Grim Reaper has been a key feature throughout The Sims series and as the Sims 3 series draws to a close our old friend Grim gets featured again. This time he has his own manor and of course its located in a graveyard 'cause that's just how he rolls.

The first thing that caught my attention when purchasing the new venue from the sims 3 store was the insane price, 1700 simpoints! (this is the sale price by the way). I recently purchased a stuff pack on sale and it was much less than that if you equate it to monetary value. I had spare simpoints lying around so I purchased it praying for the best.




Premium Content : The Door of Life and Death.

This premium content is completely unique to the game. This has never been done before. I was initially extremely excited for this and in some ways it has lived up to my expectation. Your sims can summon the Grim Reaper for a chat or anything really. Grimmy seems to be a really nice guy and is very tolerant towards your sim. When he gets tired he will simply just disappear through a hole in the floor. Grim interacts as a normal sim. Want to give Grim a Shaka Bra or show off your Banshee Banisher (ironically)? Go right ahead.

Another interaction is challenging Grim to a guitar duel. You need guitar level 4 to be able to do this and if you're not the best you are good as gone. This doesn't necessarily mean permanently gone, there is achance your sim could get reincarnated as a baby. 

The genetic merger interaction allows your sim to combine their genes with any sim or any supernatural being in the town and have a baby. Think of it as Grim's fertility clinic or sperm bank with endless possibility. The only life state not included is a vampire, but get this, BOTH male and female can become pregnant. It's an awesome way to get supernatural offspring without the effort of trying to woo them. 

There are only a few CAS items included with the game. 3 for females and 2 for males and a few build and buy mode options. Check out Sims VIPs video overview

RATING

This is such a unique, well detailed venue. I assumed it would be just a rabbithole but sims can actually enter  Grim's manor. The door of life and death can also be used as a normal front door which gives so many gameplay opportunities. I will give this venue a 3/5 rating due to the fact that there's simply not that much more to do besides interacting with the door of life and death. Once I played with it for about an hour I quickly got bored but props to the store team for providing me with a few laughs.
